'Third time lucky' is a phrase often used when you haven't been successful on the two previous occasions - so we weren't quite sure if we should say 'third time lucky again' or 'third time as well as the first and second times lucky'. And then I started thinking, is it luck? Or is it down to the genius of our nocturnal design owls here at if? Anyway, as you see, we chose 'third time in a row lucky' and I am beginning to labour the point a bit now...

Regardless, we were thoroughly delighted to receive our award from the Giftware Association at the recent Harrogate Home and Gift Show. This is our MD, John Calvert, (in the middle) receiving the award from GA Chairman Michael Sweeney and GA Chief Executive Isabel Martinson. New suit John? (Erm, no, I mean it's time for a new suit...)

This weekend Bournemouth will be dramatically bathed in a new light at the free outdoor light exhibition 'LumenOrtis'.

A captivating evening, capturing the creativity of local and UK artists to transform Bournemouth’s Central Gardens into an enchanting landscape of interactive art installations.

Leave the busy centre of Bournemouth behind and discover an enchanting side to the gardens, often thought of as an intimidating place at night, as they are transformed into a spectacular interactive environment using a variety of site-specific light works, illuminations and projections.

The event will showcase the talents of artists from across the country and upcoming artists from The Arts University College Bournemouth. Information on the artists can be found in the ‘Artist’ section of this website.

The event has been created with the idea of taking the gardens back for the community of Bournemouth. Instead of being seen as an intimating place, LumenOrtis wants to showcase the beauty of the gardens by transforming the space into a light spectacle. By illuminating the gardens, it creates a safer place for Bournemouth and a space for people to enjoy during day or night.

Sustainability

The event is being run on Orion solar-powered generators from Firefly Solar to create as little impact as possible on the environment. The lights are only on for three hours therefore using as little energy as possible. Many of the works of art are made of recycled materials and use LED lights to encourage the green theme. Come join in the community project and turn an old can into a lantern that can become part of the exhibition.

That Company Called IF have donated some of our award-winning Really Tiny Book Lights to help visitors to the event find their way in the dark.
http://www.lumenortis.co.uk/index.html

Make sure you catch the event when dusk falls on Saturday 24th April at Bournmouth Central Gardens.

For more information about LumenOrtis:

Email: Info@lumenortis.co.uk
Telephone: 07751 749841

LumenOrtis
Arts and Event Management
Arts University College Bournemouth
7 Fernbarrow
Wallisdown
Poole
BH12 5HH
